Private boat tours in Stockholm’s archipelago
Experience the delight and summer splendour of Stockholm’s archipelago with a private boat cruise – just for an afternoon, day or perhaps an overnight stay. All excursions are exclusively tailored to your wishes and preferences. Browse below for suitable destinations that show off the magnificent beauty of Stockholm and its archipelago. It is not for nothing that Stockholm is called the Venice of the North. The vessel is a professionally restored Chris Craft Lancer from 1978, operated and supervised by your very own private and fully certified skipper.

Afternoon, day or overnight cruises

Afternoon cruise
This tour will give you the full flavour of Stockholm and its landmarks from the waterside as well as the archipelago adjoining Sweden’s capital city. The tour comprises six hours at sea and the destination will be tailored according to your preferences. Why not visit one of Stockholm's archipelago restaurants and see the city’s landmarks from the water? Find out more about suitable destinations below. Afternoon cruises start at 15.00 and finish around 21.00. During June and July, the sun sets around 22.00.

Day cruise
Our day cruise gives you the time to unwind and explore the inner and middle archipelago. Why not explore Grinda or Svartsö, just two of Stockholm’s beautiful islands and stop for lunch and some sightseeing. Grinda Wärdhus is well known for its menu that highlights traditional ingredients and Svartsö’s bistro offers seasonal dishes. Or why not spend a lazy day on an island with a picnic and swim?

Overnight cruise
Why not make an adventure out of your visit and stay the night out in the archipelago? Or perhaps a visit to the outer archipelago with its skerries, ancient fishing villages and inviting coves? This extended tour permits visits to destinations such as Sandhamn with its rugged cliffs and white beaches. Or have you always dreamed of spending the night under a clear starlit sky? Bring your sleeping gear and PicBoats will steer you to a memorable destination.

Good weather guarantee
Safety on board and enjoying your trip to the full is a cornerstone for us at PicBoats. Being out at sea in inclement weather is neither pleasant nor desirable – and why we will always provide you with final confirmation of your trip when the weather forecast gives you the best opportunity to fully enjoy your cruise. This is normally 0 to 48 hours before departure.

Sustainability
Even though our boat dates to 1978 (a true classic), we are fully aware that the use of fossil fuels used during these excursions has an impact on the environment. To compensate for this, we channel 30% of the financial surplus from our boat tours to organizations working with nature preservation and carbon offset. The three organizations we have chosen are the following:

Svensk Kolinlagring
Swedish recreational boats emit 177,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide /year (Point, 2021) which represents 3.5% of Sweden’s total emissions (Naturvårdsverket, 2019). PicBoats’ vessels require an average of 1.2 litres of fuel per nautical mile (1,852 metres/1.5 statute miles). To compensate for the emissions generated from our trips we cooperate with Svensk Kolinlagring (Swedish carbon sequestration) who aim to sequester double the amount of carbon emitted during the boating season.

WWF- Save the Baltic Sea
PicBoats donates to the WWF. Our donations are earmarked to saving the Baltic Sea – the Baltic Stewardship Initiative – and preserving biodiversity and stopping eutrophication.

Biodiversity in Swedish forests
Nature, the archipelago and forests are close at heart to us at PicBoats. And by supporting the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC) we help contribute to increased participation and impact regarding issues related to sustainable development in local and global development processes. Climate, forests, agriculture, environmental pollutants, water, oceans and sustainable consumption are important focus areas.
